We know that:

♥  The arts create jobs and improve the overall quality of life for our cities and towns.
♥  The nation’s top business executives agree that arts education programs can better prepare workers for the 21st century.
♥  Research has shown that studies in music, drama, dance, and visual art can have a profound impact on student achievement. This impact effects success across a wide range of subjects.
♥  Music training does far more than allow us to entertain ourselves and others by playing an instrument or singing. Instead, it actually changes our brains.

VEF believes in the importance of arts education for all students. During the 2010-11 school year, VEF helped with the cost of putting on the annual Festival of the Arts which features performances and artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as helped provide support for the first ever Save Vista Music Festival at the AVO.

VEF will continue to support the goal of the  VUSD board to:

“ensuring that all students receive instruction in the Visual and Performing Arts each year (Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts.)”

Guajome Middle School Chamber Singers
will Perform at Carnegie Hall

How do you get to Carnegie Hall?

Practice and a little help from the VEF!  The Guajome Park Academy Middle School Choir has been selected to perform in a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 23, 2015.  The VEF approved a grant as the Choir was in need of formal concert attire for this event and this is the choir in concert attire.

Rancho Buena Vista Murals
featured in the Union-Tribune!

The VEF was proud to give a $1,000 grant to Theater Director Mark Scott to help enliven the blank walls of Rancho Buena Vista high school. And the Union Tribune did a story about it!

“Scott wrote a grant to the Vista Education Foundation, and received $1,000 for supplies. Students designed the murals, and the painting is being done by students and volunteers.”
